Events
Every Fall Semester the DCBA hosts its annual speakers’ night which is one of the most popular and anticipated events at Douglas College. The DCBA brings in speakers from many different fields and backgrounds to speak on their respective area of expertise. Speakers and topics are designed to be relevant and engaging for students, particularly those in the faculty of Commerce and Business.
The Annual DCBA Speakers Night attracts around 100 to 150 students, faculty, and alumni making it an excellent opportunity to network and expand your contact base and speak with prospective employers. Speakers’ nights include networking activities along with refreshments. They are usually held at New Westminster campus. If other oppertunities to bring in speakers come up, DCBA will hold additional events. Check the upcoming events calendar on the home page and watch out for announcements around campus for exact location, dates, and times.
The one and only DCBA Birthday Party is quickly turning in to a Douglas tradition and a night students look forward to the whole year. The DCBA was started in March 2009 and to commemorate this we throw the biggest and swankiest bash at Douglas College every Winter Semester. The event includes refreshments, networking opportunities, prize giveaways, good music, good people, and good times all at one of the hottest venues in Downtown Vancouver.
Timed to coincide with the end of midterms it is a terrific excuse to get dressed up, shine up your shoes and cut loose with fellow students, alumni, and faculty. Make sure to check the website and events calendar for exact dates and times because you do not want to miss this one.
In an attempt to lead by example and inspire others to give back the DCBA executives volunteer their time by sponsoring a local family. Christmas is a time of year when many go without and the DCBA believes that we should all chip in to help those less fortunate. If you would like to help out the DCBA and volunteer with us please fill out the sign up on the home page.
There is no catch. The students have spent an entire course studying personal income taxes. They are in fact almost over-trained to do just student’s taxes. Click the link above to see the schedule.
