Career Night Speaker – Bankruptcy and Insolvency
ByThe DCBA is proud to present yet another opportunity for business students to expand learning beyond the classroom. On Wednesday March 31st Philip McCourt, Senior Vice-President of Abakhan and Associates will be coming in to talk to students about a career in insolvency and answer any questions that students may have. This should be of great interest to ALL accounting and finance students. Insolvency is a fascinating rough and tumble industry with lots of drama. It is VERY lucrative for trustees.
Here is some background information on Philip McCourt. Philip McCourt CGA CIRP is currently the Senior Vice-President of Abakhan and Associates as well as a Trustee in Bankruptcy. Philip joined them in the fall of 2001, coming to them from a top national accounting firm, where he specialized in the area of insolvency and business restructuring from 1983 to 2000. Before entering public practice, he was involved in the financial management of a retail and manufacturing enterprise.
Philip’s primary focus is in corporate insolvencies, including receiver-manager, trustee/interim receiver in proposals, agent, monitor, assessments, consultant and forensic accounting. As well, he has extensive experience in personal bankruptcies and personal proposals.
Philip is an integral part of the Abakhan team in his role as Senior Vice-President, providing his expert advice to their professional staff in all areas of their insolvency and consulting practice.
